Every year, EP Magazine honors education professionals that make an impact in the lives of children with special needs. This year, our own Nina Ghiselli, PsyD, Systemwide Director of Disability Services at Alliant International University, is honored as one of the 2009 Models of Excellence in the Education Profession. Congratulations Dr. Ghiselli!

“Dr. Ghiselli is a dedicated educator, psychologist, and the Systemwide Director of Disability Services at Alliant International University. She is also an adult with learning disabilities who stutters and demonstrates the potential of children, adolescents, and young adults with disabilities, which she strives to serve. As an adjunct professor for numerous schools, Dr. Ghiselli teaches many psychologists, regular education, and special education teachers. Dr. Ghiselli has taught thousands of students on disability issues. As the Systemwide Director of Disability Services at Alliant, Dr. Ghiselli is the advocate for more than 150 students with disabilities in education and psychology. Dr. Ghiselli feels that it is important for these fields to address the needs of doctoral students in psychology with disabilities in order to produce psychologists and educators who can not only better address the needs of children with disabilities, but also stand as a role model for parents and children. In fact, Alliant has educated more doctoral students with disabilities than any other program in the country, including the 25th Deaf psychologist,” (EP Magazine, 2009, p. 17).
