ANNOUNCING A NEW PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY FOR PSYCHOLOGISTS!
DOCTORAL RESPECIALIZATION IN INDUSTRIAL-ORGANIZATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY
You may have seen the April 2008 issue of the APA Monitor that described the “hottest” new growth careers for psychologists. One such area where positions are expanding, compensation is lucrative, and demand for skill practitioners is growing is the practice of organizational psychology. An increasing number of clinical psychologists have already expanded their professional practice to encompass work in organizational settings. Many others are considering do so.
The Organization Psychology Division of the Marshall Goldsmith School of Management (MGSM) is now offering a specially designed professional practice development program in Industrial-Organizational Psychology. This non-degree program is oriented for practitioners who already hold a doctorate in clinical psychology, education, or related field and are interested in deepening their knowledge and sharpening their skills to practice successfully in organizational settings. This Program is comprised of 12 highly applied alternating Saturday lab-sessions spanning a 6 month period. Following the 6 month training segment, students participate in a 3-month supervised field work experience. During the field work training segment students receive 1 hour of weekly supervision from Program faculty. CE credits for Program participation will be provided to program participants who want them through Alliant International University’s accredited Continuing Education Program. Program tuition is $8000.
This Program will be offered at both Northern California and Southern California MGSM campuses starting in fall 2009. Program faculty is comprised of senior MGSM organizational psychology and business faculty, as well as other highly experienced I-O psychology and organization development practitioners. Special guest speakers and organization executives will also provide portions of the instruction.
Program content is based on the professional practice guidelines and competencies defined by APA’s Division 13-Consulting Psychology and Division 14- Society for Industrial-Organizational Psychology (SIOP), and the Organization Development Network. This is a highly applied and skills based program where theory and research are provided only as a foundation for professional practice applications.
Sample training content includes: • Managing the organization consulting process & working with global companies • Design & conduct of interventions at the individual, team, and enterprise-wide levels • Human resources management & talent management in organizations • Consulting to organizations on diversity, multiculturalism, and inclusion issues • Business development & client presentation skills • Emerging professional practice issues in I-O psychology
