Nature and the Human Soul:
Cultivating Visionary Leadership in a Time of Global Change

Bill PlotkinBill Plotkin has been a psychotherapist, research psychologist (studying non-ordinary states of consciousness), rock musician, river runner, professor of psychology, and mountain-bike racer. He is the founder and president of Animas Valley Institute, and, since 1980, has guided thousands of people through initiatory passages in nature. Currently an ecotherapist, depth psychologist, and wilderness guide, he leads a variety of experiential, nature-based, individuation programs.

He is the author of Soulcraft: Crossing into the Mysteries of Nature and Psyche and Nature and the Human Soul: Cultivating Wholeness and Community in a Fragmented World. His doctorate in psychology is from the University of Colorado at Boulder.

March 1: Full-Day Intensive

This workshop will allow participants to cultivate the ability to identify and differentiate the developmental tasks of the psychological (as opposed to chronological) stages of early and late adolescence, while improving their capacity to assess eco-developmental deficits — quite common in Western society — and facilitate "remedial" practices (experiential activities that support people to become fully human).  The workshop will also focus on enhancing particpants’ ability to design effective ecotherapeutic interventions and garner a deepened understanding of the nature of cross-cultural soul-discovery practices (i.e., soulcraft) and their essential differences from psychotherapy/ecotherapy interventions.

  • San Diego  -  Saturday, February 28th  6:30pm – 9:00pm
  • Sunday, March 1st 8:30am – 7:00pm
